The Fast and Fun Steel Pan Method is great for individuals
just starting to learn the Low C Lead pan, whether they are musically literate or not. It uses a color note system to get
the student playing the very first day and easy phonetic
spoken phrase rhythms so they get the right feel for playing rhythm on the pan. Then, they learn the scales and reading by musical notation or letter name. It’s a good solid start for someone who wants to learn music seriously and play steel pan with proper technique. At the same time, it’s a great start for someone who wants to learn casually and quickly without having to understand everything about reading rhythms and musical notation, etc.
